About me

Eva Langeland Gjerde (b. 1996) is a lyric/coloratura soprano from Horten, Norway. She is recognized for her beautiful and crystal clear voice.

Eva started singing at her local music school, Horten kulturskole, with Frøydis Waaler. During her years here, she participated several Master classes, concerts and other projects who started her passion for singing. After High School she attended a year at Toneheim folkehøgskole.

She earned her Bachelor degree in Music performance in classical singing, at Barratt Due institute of music (2020), with Liv Kjersti Sandve. Right after the Bachelor she qualified for Master at the Norwegian Opera academy (KHiO), with Prof. Toril Carlsen, where she graduated with a master's degree in opera, in June 2022.

In February of 2022, Eva sang the title role, in the Scandinavian premiere, of Rossini's "Elisabetta, regina d'Inghilterra" at Scene 2 at the Norwegian opera and ballet. This was a full production, as part of her Master's degree, directed by Jacopo Spirei and conducted by Gregor Bühl.

Eva made her professional debut at the Main stage of the Norwegian opera and ballet, in January of 2023, in a well-received, production of "Elektra" by Richard Strauss. She played Die fünfte Magd. Directed by Ole Anders Tandberg, and conducted by Petr Popelka.

Eva has performed with the Royal Norwegian Navy Band at different occasions. Last at a concert where the repertoire of the Norwegian soprano Kaja Eide Norena was highlighted. She has also sung with Tønsberg concert band, at the festival Festival des Anches d'Azur in La Croix-Valmer at the French Riviera (2017).

In September of 2022, she was a part of Triple Mozart, a concert with excerpts from three Mozart operas, Le Nozze di Figaro (La Contessa), Don Giovanni (Donna Anna) and Die Zauberflöte (Pamina). This was a production produced by Bergen National Opera, at the National Theatre of Bergen, Norway.

Eva has also qualified and participated in different international competitions: the 40th, 41st and 42nd  International Hans Gabor Belvedere singing competition (2022, 2023 og 2024), and also the 13th Klaudia Taev Competition for Young Opera Singers, Promfest (2023).

From November 2024, she will be a part of the Opera Studio at Opéra de Lyon, France.
